JOBS AT JOB SITES IN ASIA
This job site will be helpful if you are looking for jobs in Asia as an expat. Foreigners coming into Asia have been on the increase in recents years. If you speak and teach English, some Asian countries will take you in readily as an English teacher. Australian, British, Canadian and American teachers form the biggest pool of teachers in China, Japan and Korea when there are numerous schools offering English teaching.
Korea, Singapore and Japan have also opened up their employment market more noticeably to foreigners in sectors such as technology, supply chain, oil and gas, healthcare, mass media, hospitality as well as banking and finance. While is it generally not recommended to make your move without securing an employment contract, many expatriates have taken the leap and found jobs later on.
What is Asia like ? Do people live mostly in the jungles or plant rice for a living ? Do I have to learn their language ? You will have these and other questions that need answering before you pick your destination Asian city to seek your fortune in. Asia is like Europe. Well, sort of. Different countries have their own national languages. But unless you choose to work in rural areas, you are likely going to have colleagues who speak English. Not the Queen's English but you will know what they mean once you get used to the local accents. If you are not really into exotic cultures and all you want is to look for a decent living in cities which are not too different from home, you might want to consider Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore where there are large communities of expatriates. Hong Kong is great and is near China. Singapore is the well known "Asia-lite", a blend of East and West that has eased many expats into the rest of the region with minimal culture shock.
Tech tip for job searches: If you have trouble understanding job sites that contain job titles and descriptions in the local language, use Google Chrome as your web browser. It has a nifty right-click feature that can translate everything on that page.
